In Nepali families, this traditional vessel is used to serve water and refreshments. Karuwas, like kettles, have a curved body and a pouring neck. A hat with various artifacts soldered to it covers the karuwa's mouth. A small hole in the cap is also designed to equalize air pressure and allow for smooth pouring when the top is secured.

Water in this container is generally cold and does not need to be refrigerated in the same way that water in other plastic bottles does. This is a fantastic solution to the problem of plastic waste. Brass has an in-built water purification system that removes bacteria from the water it contains. Brass-encased water is also thought to be healthier since it promotes strength and immunity.

This would also look great in the living room. It is regarded as an excellent gift for any occasion, including weddings, birthdays, and housewarming parties.

Himalayas Handmade Statue Guide

What are these statues made of?

At Himalayas Shop, our statues are traditionally handcrafted in Nepal using high-quality materials such as brass, bronze, and copper alloys — sometimes with a sacred blend of metals. Many of our statues are beautifully adorned with hand-painted details, gold plating, and intricate inlays of beaded stones, resembling traditional Himalayan jewelry. Each piece is created with devotion, reflecting the spiritual significance and artistic heritage of the region.

Where can I place these statues?

These statues are perfect for:

  • Meditation altars
  • Prayer rooms
  • Yoga spaces
  • Living room décor
  • Personal shrines

They can also serve as meaningful gifts for spiritual seekers.

What do these statues represent?

Most of our statues depict the Buddha or Bodhisattvas such as Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara), Tara, or Vajrasattva. Each figure symbolizes a specific enlightened quality — such as compassion, wisdom, or purification — making them ideal for spiritual practice and mindful living.

Why are some statues more expensive than others?

The price of a statue often reflects the level of detail, craftsmanship, materials used, and the time it takes to create.

Some of our higher-end statues are made using the lost-wax casting method, hand-carved with incredible precision, inlaid with turquoise or coral stones, and finished with 24k gold gilding or fine hand-painting. These pieces can take weeks or even months to complete.

At Himalayas Shop, we offer a wide range — from simple and affordable designs to museum-quality spiritual art — all handcrafted with care in Nepal.
