Himalayas Shop is a family-led business with roots in Nepal and a home in Sydney, Australia. Founded by Prateek Shrestha in 2021, it grew from a lifelong connection to Himalayan art, spiritual traditions, and the artisans who keep these crafts alive.
We work closely with our family and skilled makers in Nepal to share authentic singing bowls, Thangka paintings, prayer flags, malas, and other meaningful creations. Each piece is chosen for its craftsmanship, story, symbolism, and wisdom.

A childhood surrounded by art
Where our journey began
In 1983, my father, Narayan Krishna Shrestha, opened his first Thangka shop in Thamel, Kathmandu. He later ran several shops, and through his work our family became closely connected with Thangka paintings, their artists and the traditions they carry.
I grew up surrounded by these beautiful works. As a child, I understood little of their deeper symbolism, but their beauty stayed with me. I was also fortunate to be raised by kind, loving and compassionate parents whose values quietly shaped the person I became.
Nepal and Australia
Discovering the meaning within
After moving to Australia for further studies, I began building a website for my father’s Nepal business, Lucky Thanka. I later shared Thangka art through websites, exhibitions and events, creating a bridge between our roots in Nepal and people abroad.
During this time, my own understanding of spirituality began to deepen. I came to see these arts and crafts as more than beautiful objects: they hold symbolism, wisdom and reminders that the peace and happiness we seek can be found within the present moment.
Our family today
A family journey continues
In 2021, Himalayas Shop began in a small garage in Sydney. What started modestly has grown through the support of my family, especially my sister Prathana, who works closely with artisans in Nepal.
Today, we share meaningful Himalayan arts and crafts while honouring the people, skills and traditions behind them. Our hope is that something you discover here may inspire a moment of reflection, peace or joy — and that you carry and share that feeling with others.
