Mahakala is a guardian god with a dwarf's body in dark blue to represent the unchanging dharma kaya essence. He seems enraged and is adorned with serpents. He wears a garland of chopped heads and a crown of five skulls, each representing one of the five defilements. His right hand carries Kartri, which represents the ability to break ego-clinging attachments, while his left hand holds Kapala, which represents the subjugation of wicked ones. He has three eyes, which represent his clear understanding of three times. His mouth is splattered with blood, indicating that he is actively working to eradicate evil.
