Prayer Flags, also known as Lung-ta in Tibetan, are typically square or rectangular in shape and are linked together by a long string or thread along their top edges. They are commonly displayed in high places, such as the tops of temples, monasteries, stupas, or mountain passes, by hanging on a diagonal line from high to low between two objects, such as a rock and the top of a pole.
This World Peace Praying Flag features a powerful mantra for global harmony, written by the esteemed Dudjom Rinpochhe. It is a prayer for the elimination of afflictions and conflict, and the abundance of virtue, prosperity, and well-being for all nations and people. Prayer flags represent the Five Elements in five colors: blue, white, red, green, and yellow. Traditional Tibetan medicine states that balance of these elements leads to health and harmony. The flags also feature approximately 400 mantras and symbols dedicated to various deities.
The colors of the prayer flag represents the following:
- Blue symbolizes the sky and space
- White symbolizes the air and wind
- Red symbolizes fire
- Green symbolizes water
- Yellow symbolizes earth.
